Program Announcement: XR for Change Fellowships
 
Games for Change (G4C) seeks two Fellows to participate in our XR for Change initiative and gain essential knowledge and experience to position them for careers in the immersive media, technology, and social impact sector. (XR stands for “extended realities” and spans the rapidly growing field of immersive technology including virtual, augmented, and mixed reality).
The XR for Change program is a year-round initiative that brings together XR developers, media makers, storytellers, researchers, technology companies and users to create and share experiences that can improve people’s lives and further positive social change.
 
Position Details:
 
Fellows will become part of the G4C team and be mentored and have unique work experience while engaging in research, writing, curation, and event production over the course of six months, and participate in generating a white paper study of the state of XR and social impact to guide future investment in the field. Each Fellow will receive a monthly stipend and is expected to make a commitment of 25-30 hours per week.
 
Key Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree or higher in a related field (computer science, videogame/XR development,), or equivalent professional experience
Comfort working with and setting up XR hardware, including HMDs such as HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Microsoft Hololens, and Magic Leap One
Broad understanding of XR industry and it’s growing impact across various sectors, including non-profit, educational, medical, art, and civic institutions
Demonstrated ability to carry out and manage development research activities across various sectors
Excellent verbal and written skills in English across a range of communication formats (program reports, research briefs, white papers)
Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
Proactive ability to work independently
Strong problem-solving skills

Requirements:

Weekly commitment of 25 – 30 hours/week.
Position based in G4C’s WeWork offices in Midtown East, New York.

We’re Hiring: Executive Producer Intern

Games for Change (G4C) is looking for an intern to support the Executive Producer of the G4C Festival. The intern will support all projects that the Executive Producer is working on as it relates to event planning and marketing.  The intern will report directly to the Exec Producer, but may also be asked to work with other members of the team.
 
Candidates for this unpaid internship should meet the below qualifications and requirements.
 
Position Details:

Work directly with the G4C Exec Producer to help support production and marketing on various events.
Production tasks include scheduling, logistics, managing content on websites, creating and managing database spreadsheets, researching/sourcing technology, coordinating with venues, overall event planning.
Marketing tasks include helping to create & execute marketing plan for August event. Assist in marketing outreach for Festival event in June.
Assist in creating and editing documents and presentations.

 
Key Qualifications:

Very reliable, self-motivated, proactive, takes initiative, thinks “outside of the box”.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Keen understanding of social media, specifically how to use as a marketing tool. Knows rules of posting, how to reach people, how to create a buzz for an event.  Strong writer for social media.
Basic production skills; interested in organization, logistics and has great people skills.
Strong communication/computer skills are a must (PowerPoint/Keynote, Google Docs, etc).
Strong writing and research skills.
Strong verbal skills; good at negotiation.
Ability to manage websites, loading and finessing content.
Ability to produce high-quality information visually.
Photoshop skills are a plus.
Proven ability to problem-solve and multi-task.
Takes direction well.
Technical background and comfort with any of the following platforms/technologies would be a bonus: Squarespace, WordPress, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Jotform, YouTube, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Google Daydream, Microsoft Surface, Apple iPad.

 
Requirements:

Weekly commitment of 24 hours/week; May 2019.
Position based in G4C’s WeWork offices in Midtown East, New York.
Internship is for school credit. Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university level program and be eligible to receive school credit.

Business Research (Special Project) Intern

Games for Change (G4C) is looking for an intern to support research efforts for the organization around a new project on building out a social impact games and extended realities (XR) accelerator.
 
The intern will lead on this project which will culminate in an accelerator/incubator and impact investment fund supporting video game designers creating games for positive social impact. The intern will report to Senior Director, Partnerships & Programs Asif Khan and President, Susanna Pollack.
 
Position Details:
 
● Lead on a research project on social impact games, funding models and social impact accelerators.
● Do a landscape review of social impact investment funds and accelerators, especially those with a special focus on digital games and/or immersive tech.
● Identify markets that are establishing successful B2B and B2C games and/or immersive tech revenue opportunities (eg education and health)
 
Key Qualifications:
 
● Enrolled in a graduate degree program preferably Business School.
● Very reliable, self-motivated and proactive.
● Passion for and interest in social impact games and education.
● Highly organized and detail-oriented.
● Strong communication skills and familiarity with Windows or Mac applications.
● Strong English language skills (oral and written).
● Demonstrate strong computer skills and ability to produce high-quality information visually.
● Proven abilities for problem-solving, multi-tasking, meet deadlines and work under pressure, strong follow-up skills.
● Be able to work as part of a team in a constantly evolving work environment
 
Requirements:
 
● Weekly commitment of 10-12 hours/week over 12-16 weeks. Start date September/October 2018.
● The team is based in G4C’s WeWork offices in Midtown East, New York City. Remote work also an option.
● This unpaid internship is for school credit only. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate level university program and be eligible to receive school credit.

G4C Senior Director, Partnerships & Programs leads on supporting the organization in cultivating, building and nurturing strategic relationships and alliances that are essential for advancing and successfully achieving the mission of G4C. Candidates for this unpaid internship should meet the below qualifications and requirements.
 
Position Details:

Support G4C Senior Director, Partnerships & Programs (and other staff as needed) in research, project management, outreach and communication activities across a range of social impact video game & XR (Extended Realities) development projects and funding opportunities
Assist with planning, logistics and invitees list for G4C’s XR for Change (XR4C) initiative

Help with partner outreach, sponsorship and programming for G4C’s Annual Festival being held in New York City in Summer 2019
